ART:DIS (Singapore) Ltd, formerly known as Very Special Arts Singapore (VSA Singapore), is a leading charity dedicated to creating learning and livelihood opportunities for persons with disabilities in the arts.

Introduced to Singapore in 1993 by Professor Tommy Koh, ART:DIS organises art programmes, workshops and exhibitions for persons with disabilities. Through this, they establish pathways in the arts for persons with disabilities to express themselves, gain confidence and be part of a community that is rewarding.

Their Challenge

When VSA came to us, they had already established a 25-year history of creating social impact in Singapore. However, a lack of branding and marketing rendered them relatively unknown to the masses. Furthermore, as VSA International underwent a rebrand of its own, VSA Singapore decided it was time to develop a uniquely Singaporean brand.

Our Solution

After carrying out focus group surveys, corporate interviews and a brand communication audit, we executed a total revamp of their brand. This came complete with a review of its internal organisation. The outcome was a strategic brand plan formulated to enhance their positioning towards public education, awareness and community outreach; ushering the evolution of VSA Singapore into ART:DIS.

The name ART:DIS is a play on the word “Artist”, like a homophone, and demonstrates their conviction that all persons with disabilities benefit from access to the arts, regardless of their disability. A new visual identity was also developed to launch this name change.
